Which is as it should be, and I send along my thoughts of goodwill and support to those struggling with the situation. Shame on anyone who seeks to profit politically from a tornado.

I maintain, though, that the people who lost their homes and belongings are not the ones who have the heavy equipment to plow through the rubble, nor can they afford to pay for subcontracting waste removal teams to pick up the mess. Beyond that, all those facing the grief of losing a loved one in the storms are probably lacking the mental strength now to perform the task of putting the rest of their lives back together. They are the ones needing whatever assistance can be extended to them, and if the stuff needed to get the job done is stuck in Iraq, then it is simply not where we need it to be at this point. Whosoever believes that the ones who got hit so badly over the weekend can pull it together simply by sheer will has my admiration for an awe-inspiring sense of optimism.

It is still "we the people" right? Therefore volunteerism is technically government aid. And your little dog too.

shame on you Bryan for having a heart that bleeds. What a knee jerk liberal you must be for actually caring about people other than yourself. You should be ashamed. Now go make fun of a bum or something or go on a rant how we should blow up all the " ferin" children of the world.

Seriously, thanks for being a voice of reason. VERY well said.

Excuse me, but what the fuck are my taxes going to if the government doesn't step in and provid exactly the kind of relie assistance it is supposed to in times of disaster?

It is NOT liberal whining to expect the governemtn to do their goddamned jobs and to do it right. If I send my car in fo repairs and pay money to get it fixed I don't expect the mechanic to come back and tell me I should fend for myself and replace the manifold myself and then keep my fucking money.

Government officials are PUBLIC SERVANTS. Do you people arguing that everyone just shut up and suck it up when disaster strikes understand that simple concept?

If you REALLY BELIEVE that we should depend on no one but ourselves, then stop paying your taxes completely, and barricade yourelves in your fortresses with your guns and fight it out when they come to take you away. That's what you want, right? Then show some fucking balls and do it already, if you;re so fucking tough.

The rest of us will pay our taxes and yes, demand that when our homes are destroyed by flood, fire, or otherwise, the officials we elected to represent and fight for us in times of real and serious need will demand that they show up and do their jobs so that the FREE HEALTH CARE THEY RECEIVE AS A RESULT OF BEING OUR "LEADERS", not to mention all the other perks they get, isn't all a big stinking joke played on the rest of us.

Yeah, it's often a hard job. Yeah, things were hard for everyone in Katrina and Kansas and it takes time to get people the help they need, but in the most POWERFUL DEMOCRACY ON THE PLANET AND IN HISTORY, it is actually OK to say "hey, we should have trucks here to help us NOW when there isn't any help we realistically have otherwise and maybe the people and resources we need shouldn't be stuck overseas in a war that's costing millions of dollars out of our pockets a week and much more in lives and limbs lost, that was started under false pretenses, and seems to bother no one."

I respect everyone's right to their opinion here, and it's perfectly clear by now that some peoples' minds are made up and no amount of reason or fact after fact will alter a fixed view that the "gummint" is just supposed to sit there and do nothing while we pour money into state and federal coffers year after year, and that if we complain about THEIR JOB PERFORMANCE ON OUR DIME it's just "liberal whining".

Fuck that. Don;t tell me that after I participate in a democracy with my vote and my tax dollars I can't expect something more in return that continued incompetence, arrogance, and lies.

Hey, man, I worked a double (late last night and back at it this morning), so i'm off now, and i'll raise a beer for both of us.

Thanks, and don't ever apologize for speaking your mind on a public forum. Some people forget that it's actually patriotic to speak out, and that the most oppressive governments in history are the ones that kept people silent.

Grendel, we have your back, my friend. Your statement was truly patriotic. It's time we all question the actions of this Government.

I am somewhat conservative, but I think those lines are becoming blurred in the face of what will be known as the "American Condition". The "American Condition" is what they(THE MEDIA) will call the evil force which brings citizens of all political backgrounds together to rise up in protest of our mega-spending/wasting/bombing/raping and pilaging government.

In the real world, these are the times when partisan standards are droppped and AMERICAN PEOPLE fight for what is right and just. It seems the folks in Washington need a subtle reminder(sledge to the head), that this is NOT a Monarchy and we, the inmates, run this asylum.

Thanks for the inspiration Grendel and Dire!

Touche! It has come full circle. Like when Vader faced Obi Wan on the death star. I think everyone should not have to work and collect welfare. George Bush is Satan, as are all white people. Al Gore is a cybernetic organism and no one should ever fart in public due to global warming. Please cup, retract to mouth and inhale your own methane and sulfor-dioxide. As for pulic servitude and government intervention, I have no real interest in either side at this time and only want to piss someone off and make people listen to this ridicules song...

Check out the middle, really. If that one rant was in response to my comments, that is hilarious. I am changing my name to Tele2phone Tough2Guy and will be recomending obscure works that no one likes in the middle of deep discussions from now on. You have 30 seconds to respond.

Isn't that what AFLAC and wind storm damage insurance are for? I am all for FEMA handing out food and stuff, I just think it's foolish and irresponsible to your family to wait for uncle sam to help you. Sorry you lost everything in the tornado but I think you are an angry fartsniffer.

Hey guys...all I was trying to say was some people were more interested on hearing themselves speak then seeing what the people affected needed.Nobody was asking for a handout from anyone. But people got on the airwaves and made it their own agenda. Didn't mean to cause a big debate...was just telling you what I observed. And it is good we can all say what we want in our country and believe whatever we want to here also. We don't have to agree and we don't have to see each others points. That is what's good about us and bad.I appreciate reading all your opinions and find substance in all.

Mickmac--Whereabouts are you? My grandmother was from Greensburg, and my mom and dad were born and raised in Pratt. My roots run very deep in that part of Kansas, and my thoughts and prayers are with all in and around Greensburg...

Yeah humans are great that way. They tend do error on the side of generosity and compassion, when they are not trying to verbally sodomize people online...

My corporate office is not too far away from there, intranet was down all day the other day so I was affected sightly by this. It's amazing there were so few casualties, could have been a lot worse if Bush was allowed to kill them like he did in New Orleans, he hates black people you know... how many hundreds of thousands died because Bush had his brother in FL steer that storm like that? THAT MAN IS SATAN, ASK HUGO!

Why is this posted to my question of Mickmac? I stayed out of the political fray--I was curious about Mick's situation. I am very familiar with that part of SW Kansas, and still have family in the area.
I'm a real bleeding heart and was pleased when Kansas elected Sibelius, but I thought she was totally grandstanding as well. But it is a fact that all the states' Nat'l Guard has been diminished by the war. When we need them here, there's not much left--it's frustrating...

George Bush hates white people then, sorry. I did not know you were black. Not sure what a mickmac is and didn't read your post all the way, I never do. Glad you are well and hope your family is ok too. I have been through a shit load of hurricanes and had the roof of my apartment building colapse, lost a month of income and had no power for about 3 weeks altogether one year. Never did get around to filing any paperwork with FEMA, but I know plenty of fruadulent claims the were filed that I paid for. Hell, I am not even sure you are responding to me because the sequence of the the thread posts on here make no sense and the timeline can get jumbled... Oh well, I cannot read your original post in this window, which is retarded, so what was your question again? Was it "dead-related"? Please advise, over and o2ut.

Dude--I am not getting into it with you. I was not responding to ANYthing you have posted in this thread. My family for many generations lived in SW Kansas and I was curious where Mickmac is. He said in the FIRST post in this thread he had been in Greensburg, and had offered his backyard for the high school grad. I simply wanted to express support for an individual on this forum, and for those affected by the tornado. I spent many summers at my grandparents about 30 miles from Greensburg. I have been to Greensburg and still have family in the area.
Get over yourself toughtalker...

The stamped timeline for a post starts when the reply window is first opened, not when you hit "submit post" right? So TT, Mickmac, bellski and sactowntom may all be mixed up on who's replying to when, how and hoot, aye?
(i say blame Bush) fun thread DIRE started......
